Authors: د.
Issue Date: 3-Nov-2013
Abstract This research seeks to answer several questions related to sound phenomena in the Holy Quran and its relevant impact on the listener by subjecting these phenomena to analysis, and fathoming the subtle relationship between the sound phenomena and the meaning intended by the verse. The researcher, herein, focused upon a very fine aspect that requires deep consideration and scrutiny of thought, mainly, the vocal diversity in the provisions of the vowelless nun and the nunation, and the implications that such diversity provides at the level of meaning, herein, relying on the opinions of Arabic linguists who have been known for their long term expertise in vocal studies; and upon the views of the scholars of exegesis in interpreting Qur’anic verses. We have then strengthened that by the latest research on vocal studies relating to such theories and analyses which did not violate the views of Arabic linguists in this area so as to conclude there from that the Quran’s music, its composition, its sequence of sounds has a charm to listener, even to those who do not understand Arabic. This charm emanates from its exquisite sound system, a system wherein the short vowel and the vowelless letters produce a diversity that invigorates the active level of anyone listening to it. Through the study of these phenomena, we can improve the study of the Science relating to Quranic recitation as well as the study of linguistics aspects.
