The purpose of this study was to highlight importance of the Navy of Oman during the decade (179-280 AH/ 795-893 AD). The study handled in the beginning the factors that motivated its creation, which can be defined as two factors: Geographic factor represented in Oman location that overlooks water areas in three sides, which made the sea a more suitable option for seeking of subsistence, and enhancing communication with other people. The foreign invasion coming from the sea and driven by economic and political claims represented the second factor for establishment and development of the navy. The study traced the role of Oman Navy in blocking the foreign invasions and pacification and stabilization of the coasts of Oman and Indian Ocean. The study highlighted the facilities and equipment of the navy, including weapons and ships. It explored the combat strategies and roles adopted by Omanis in their maritime wars, starting with invitation and alert, and culminating by the means of intimidation. The study ended by addressing the sources that funded this navy and that foster satisfaction of its needs. Key words: Oman, India, Socotra, Navy, A'Shodhah, Al Ghoraf, Pirates, Indian Ocean.
