Abstract

Oriental studies occupy a large space in the field of studies, especially those related to history, and if this indicates anything, it indicates its importance and scientific value, so that a study in the field of history and other fields is not without reference to it, and from here the importance of studying orientalism in general emerges. The importance of this research, which deals with the study of orientalism in terms of concept, language and terminology, its beginning, motives, differing opinions about them, and its impact on Arab –Islamic history, in terms of preserving the sources of books and manuscripts, and the impact of oriental studies on Arab historical studies and Arab researchers methodically and intellectually. This research deals with a number of different opinions of researchers about Orientalism with regard to definition, beginning, and motives. تحتل الدّراسات الاستشراقيّة حيزا واسعا في مجال الدّراسات، وخاصّة المتعلّقة بالتّاريخ منها, وإن دلّ ذلك على شيء فهو يدل على أهمّيتها وقيمتها العلميّة؛ بحيث لا تخلو دراسة في حقل التّاريخ وغيره من الحقول من الإشارة إليها, ومن هنا تبرز أهميّة دراسة الاستشراق بشكل عام. وتكمن أهميّة هذا البحث في تناول الاستشراق بالدّراسة، من حيث مفهومه لغة واصطلاحا, وبدايته ودوافعه، واختلاف آراء الباحثين حوله, وتأثيره في التّاريخ العربي الإسلامي, من ناحية حفظ أمّات الكتب والمخطوطات, وتأثير الدّراسات الاستشراقيّة في الدّراسات التّاريخيّة العربيّة والباحثين العرب منهجيا وفكريا, ويتناول هذا البحث اختلاف عدد من الباحثين حول الاستشراق من حيث التّعريف والبداية والدّوافع
