Abstract
The research aims to show the impact of architectural developments in terms of both the design and architectural methods and the building materials on the development of the architecture of the city of Baghdad between the past and present.
The research depends on the historical, descriptive and analytical approach. The research problem is: Has the city of Baghdad changed over time? And why? Does this have an impact on the urban fabric of the city? What are the factors that contributed to the change of architecture of the city? The research has reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which is the change in the elements of the urban landscape of the city of Baghdad in its early stages, specifically in the fifties, which is one of the stages of urban development in which the emergence of high-rise buildings with multiple floors of modernity continued its march in the sixties and seventies, which represent the product of Iraq's rugged architecture.

يهدف البحث إلى بيان أثر التطورات المعمارية سواء من حيث التصمايم أو من حيث الأساليب المعماريّة ومواد البناء على تطور عمارة مدينة بغداد بين الماضي والحاضر، وقد اعتمد البحث المنهج التأريخي والوصفي والتحليلي، تكمن مشكلة البحث في: هل طرأ تغيّر على عمارة مدينة بغداد عبر الزمن؟ ولماذا ؟ وهل لهذا أثره في تغير النسيج الحضري للمدينة ؟ وما هي العوامل التي ساهمت في تغير عمارة المدينة ولقد توصل البحث إلى مجموعة من الاستنتاجات من أهمها ( تغير عناصر المشهد الحضري لمدينة بغداد في مراحله الأولى وبالتحديد في مرحلة الخمسينات، والتي تعدُّ من أوج مراحل التطور العمراني التي برزت فيه ظهور المباني العالية ذات الطوابق المتعددة لتواصل الحداثة مسيرتها في عقدي الستينات والسبعينات بصروح عمرانية كانت تمثل نتاج العمارة العراقية الرصينة.
