جلادستون والمسألة الأرمنية 1894-1896م

Abstract

الملخّص تهدف الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على جلادستون وموقفه من المسألة الأرمنية، خصوصاً ‏وأن جلادستون كان قد تقلّد منصب رئاسة الوزراء في بريطانيا أربع مرات؛ حتى قرّر التقاعد عن ‏العمل السياسي والخدمة العامة. إلا أن المظالم الأرمنية جعلته يتراجع عن هذا الأمر، فخاض من ‏منطلق دوافعه الدينية والسياسية حملة عنيفة ومعادية للدولة العثمانية وما تقوم به تجاه الأرمن، من ‏خلال توظيف خطاباته البلاغية في اللقاءات الجماهيرية الحاشدة، التي شارك فيها، والرسائل ‏التحريضية، التي كان يرسلها إلى الاجتماعات واللقاءات، التي لم يستطع حضورها لدواعٍ صحية ‏وتقدمه في العمر؛ الأمر الذي أدى إلى إثارة الرأي العام في بريطانيا - بشكل كبير- ضد الدولة ‏العثمانية. وتهدف الدراسة إلى تبيان موقف جلادستون المعادي للدولة العثمانية باعتبارها دولة ‏إسلامية، ومقاومتها والتحريض عليها في بريطانيا، من خلال استخدام المسألة الأرمنية. وقد تمّ ‏استخدام المنهج الوصفي في كثير من جوانب البحث، إلى جانب المنهج التحليلي. ‏ الكلمات المفتاحية: جلادستون، الأرمن، بريطانيا العظمى، الدولة العثمانية، المسألة ‏الشرقية.‏

Abstract

The study aim to shed light on Gladstone position towards the Armenian question. ‎Gladstone holding the office of prime minister in Britain for four times decided to retire ‎from political work and public service, but the Armenian grievances made him reverse his ‎decision.‎ Out of political and religious motivations, he launched a hostile and violent ‎campaign against the Ottoman State through employing rhetorical speeches in mass ‎meetings and sending seditious letters to gatherings he couldn't attend due to health ‎reasons and advancement of age. This resulted in inciting the public opinion in Britain ‎against the Ottoman State. The study aims to show Gladstone’s hostile attitude towards ‎the Ottoman State as an Islamic state, and his resistance and incitement against it in ‎Britain, through employing the Armenian question‏.‏‎ Descriptive method has been used in ‎many aspects of research as well as analytical method.‎ Keywords: Gladstone, Armenians, Great Britain, Ottoman State, The Eastern ‎Question.‎
