‏ الكلمات المفتاحية: الاستثمار العام، الاستثمار الخاص، الآثار الاقتصادية الكلية .‏ Abstract ‏ ‏This study aimed to assess the economic impacts of both public and private investment in Jordan during the ‎period 1976-2014, by using an aggregate supply aggregate demand macroeconomic model. The model included a set ‎of simultaneous equations which was estimated using two stages least square (2SLS) methodology.‎ The results of estimation were used to calculate the marginal effect of an increase by one unit in each public ‎and private investment on production, demand for labor, private consumption, public consumption, national exports, ‎imports, and tax revenue. It was found that public investment has stronger effect than private investment on the ‎aforementioned economic variables.‎ Based on the results, the study suggested a number of recommendations. First, to keep the public sector ‎economically active, and giving it priority to access financial resources for further public investment. Second, to give ‎the private sector a greater role in order to downsize the public sector. This will be reflected in reducing current ‎expenditures while increasing capital expenditures spent on public investments.‎ Key word: public investment, private investment, macroeconomics impacts.‎
