Abstract:
Abstract

Abstract:
(Co-integration, Unit Root
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate whether the financial liberalization program, launched in Jordan in the aftermath of the 1989 crisis, has had any effect on the controllability of the money supply by the Central Bank. Recent failures of some of the banks in Jordan seem to point in this direction. This observation seems to conform with the ongoing controversy surrounding the exogeneity /endogeneity theses regarding the money supply i.e the controllability/non-controllability of the money supply by the Central Bank. To achieve this goal, several econometric tests are carried out, namely Unit Root, Co-integration and Granger Causality tests. The results indicate that the money supply in Jordan is exogenously determined, which implies that it is under the control of the Central Bank.2005-03-08T00:00:00ZThe Determinants of Corporate Debt Maturity Structure: Some Panel Data ResultsHaitham Al-Zoubihttp://hdl.handle.net/123456789/5972015-09-29T11:33:27Z2004-11-07T00:00:00ZTitle: The Determinants of Corporate Debt Maturity Structure: Some Panel Data Results

Abstract
This paper empirically examines the determinant of corporate debt maturity structure for 243 industrial firms reported in NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ for the period 1989-2003. The Hausmans specification test is used to examine the fixed and random effects in the panel data. We find strong evidence supporting the contracting cost-theory that smaller firms with higher business risk and firms with more growth options in their investment opportunity sets are more likely to issue short-term debt. Also we strongly reject the tax benefit and liquidity2004-11-07T00:00:00ZFinancial Reforms and Credit Supply: An Application to the Jordanian Banking System (1982 ? 2002)Khaled Al-ZubiGhassan Omethttp://hdl.handle.net/123456789/5962015-09-29T11:32:21Z2004-10-16T00:00:00ZTitle: Financial Reforms and Credit Supply: An Application to the Jordanian Banking System (1982 ? 2002)

Abstract:
Abstract
Financial intermediaries (banks) and markets (stock markets) are supposed to improve information and transaction costs and thereby foster a more efficient allocation of economic resources. The empirical literature supports the various theoretical models that emphasize the positive impact of banks (and stock markets) on economic growth. Given the relatively large size of the Jordanian banking system, this paper focuses on two main questions: First, has the 1989 interest liberalization had any impact on the lending activity of the Jordanian banks? Second, are main-stream determinants of bank credit applicable to the Jordanian banking sector?2004-10-16T00:00:00Z
