Abstract This research is a detailed study for the private security companies that arise in the light of armed conflicts, and which carry out their own activities in line with the armed forces of States, in order to be compatible with the participation of combat operations and assassinations on the one hand, and to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the State party in the armed conflict on the other. This in turn leads to the emergence of the status of international humanitarian law in its relationship with these private companies. The researcher reviewed the rules governing the private security companies, and their distinctive legal nature, which makes security companies ones of a special nature. Then, the researcher discussed the position of the international conventions and international humanitarian law, from which the deterrent legal texts stem to violate the rights of individuals in armed conflicts, as well as comparing private security companies with the armed forces and mercenaries in order to demonstrate the similarities and differences in the international humanitarian law. Finally, the conclusion of the research included its findings and recommendations.en_US
